Minisiege updates

January 2018:
There hasn't been very many updates regarding Minisiege in a long time here, so I thought it's just about time that I post a new update regrading what has been going on inside Minisiege as of the recent month, cause oh boy have we been busy. The new update, of course, is our main update, as this meant we had to re-update everything we had previously to be compatible with it. 

Staff changes:
  • New Minisiege Head Admin (TheQuickOne) has been appointed replacing BearlyHuman.                                                                                                                                                   
  • 1 New Senior admin added to our team (Takeout from the 16th).                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
  • Restructure of admin team, new Trial period system introduced to help assist newer admins into their roles.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           
Script changes:
Script changes and additions done by Caesim, very much appreciated work from him and big thanks to him for these changes!
  • Most scripts updated to become compatible with the new NW update.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           
  • Optimisations regarding server lag.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
  • Server welcome message updated (Text wrapping also was fixed as it used to take up a new line for 1 word). This also adds player GUID here.                                                                                                                                                  
  • Earthworks now disappear, if they are undug when they have no hp left. Allows undigging of glitched earthworks.                                                                                                                                                  
  • Medics have been buffed (To replace our old toilet healing system). 
      - Healing cap was removed (used to only be able to heal someone to a certain percentage of extra health, now you can infinitely heal to 100% health).
      - Health per hit with the bandage increased to 20% per hit.
      - Text colour changed from pink to red (helps admins, as it was the same colour as internal admin chat)                                                                                                                                                  
  • Flags have been re-introduced into the server. If these are dropped, however, they do not stand upright but are dropped like a weapon (to avoid flag blocking / trolling)                                                                         
  • Spyglasses re-enabled, bugs regarding this have been fixed,                                                                                                                                                                                                                           
  • Bonuses turned back on so flag bearers and musicians are not useless in a battle now.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
Map changes:
Map changes are done by the good work of our 2 map managers, Kruse and Aztir. Big thanks to them for keeping things fresh and updating maps on requests!
  • Zulu map (Custom map 9) - removed from rotation entirely.                                                                                                                                                                                              
  • Out of rotation map (Fort Fausbourg (Morning)) is a new cav map being tested.                                                                                                                                                            
  • Rotation completely changed, much easier to keep track of as it goes from custom map 1, 2 , 3, 4 ,5 - In a logical order.                                                                                             
         - new cannon (both teams can fight for it)
         - new ladder at back
         - 9 new molotovs with new crate locations for defending team  
         - All rooftops should be accessible now by walking on                                                                                                                                                                                                                 
         - If you spawn inside walls in defending side, it should push you out rather than people shooting through the walls.                                                                                                                                                   
        - Fixed 2 flying tents
        - Minor tree location tweaks
        - Extra toilet added near windmill
        - Extra close up cannons for attackers now (to make them less useless)                                                                                                                                                                                                                           
        - Ladder onto scaffolding at attacker spawn has been made a static ladder rather than one you raise, this should prevent ladder trolling here.
        - Optimisation tweaks, removed some unnecessary props.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
       - Updated with new prop ID for fort. Now is back in rotation once again with slightly updated prop model.
       - New addition of a staircase coming from the tunnel / basement below fort. Should add some extra depth to defending.
       - Removed 2nd ladder at back of the fort, this avoids too many attacking routes and to help balance map (Still need tweaks).                                                                                                                                                  
       - New area behind watch tower for defenders, with new cannon. This is to counter the attacking artillery as you can kill them with this cannon now.
       - Attacker spawn drastically changed to add a mortar and cannon on the hill, rather than just 1 cannon and howitzer.                                                                                                                                                          - New rotation map to replace custom map 9 (Zulu map).

I will try to post these updates more often now, and thank you very much to the people who have done these updates, script managers and map managers. Your work is very much appreciated!

February 14th 2018:

Script changes:
  • Custom chat commands (use the O key to bring this chat box up)
         - All these commands will start with a "/" key, if not it will output your message into the all chat.
         - "/admins" - Will display admins currently online
         - "/bps" - Will display build points for both teams
  • Cheer animation for everyone, this is attached to the B key
  • Admin skins are re-added. These skins (not admin ones, ofc) will be available for players at some stage via the leaderboard positions. Will keep you posted on this.

Map changes:
  • Custom map 16, changed attacking mortar with a cannon, added extra defences for defenders, added an extra forward defending cannon
  • Custom map 2 (Desert village), removed from rotation and is now an out-of-rotation map / on break from rotation. 
  • Custom map 13 (small outpost), added into rotation to replace map 2.
  •  Avignon, added more defences around the flag (small wodden walls to make it harder for attackers)

February 22nd 2018:
Map changes:
- Custom map 13 (Small outpost):
    - Removed from rotation due to being unbalanced.

- Custom map 5 (Lighthouse):
    - Added a second ship for attackers to try and prevent spawning glitches (will be re-edited again in the near future)

- Custom map 16 (Hybrid inf & cav):
    - Added more rocks to better help defenders from flanks (balance reasons)
    - Blocked a narrow entrance at the back with rocks (help better balance the map, again) as the attackers exploited this too much

March 3rd 2018:
This is a small update, so nothing too major, but an update all the same!



Map changes:
- Custom map 5 (Lighthouse):
     - Moved one of the spawns on the boats to a more secure location in the middle of the main boat, this SHOULD fix the spawning off the side of the boat.

- Siege of Toulon (Day):
     - A swivel-cannon was bugged so it couldn't turn. Fixed this, it can now turn.
     - Also moved one defender-swivel a bit back, so if captured by attackers, they can now use it more effectively against the defenders.

- Fort Hohenfels (Day):
     - It was possible to walk on a wall and into defender spawn. Blocked that way with a crate of bottles for the amusement of players who can jump there.

- Avignon:
    - Small wooden wall added next to church to better assist defenders from the east of the flag.
    - More defences around the outer wall (over turned carts and the such) to better help the defenders. This will hopefully better balance the map as before once the attackers captured this area, it was too open for defenders to defend.

Thanks to Aztir and Kruse for these updates to the maps! There is more to come!

Admins:
- Speculaaskoekje - has left the admin team.
- Dius - No longer a trial admin.
- Maskman - No longer a trial admin.
- Gokiller - New trial admin (As of last week)

March 29th 2018:

Map changes:
Custom Map 4 
  • Changed the cannon on the island into a howitzer
Custom Map 5
  • Moved almost all attacker spawns to the middle of the boat - hope noone drops out now.... Again
Custom Map 7
  • Fixed the floors, can still be destroyed, but people will not fall through.
  • Gave attackers back their cannon and a swivel on the roof as well.
Custom Map 14 - new map
  • Open for feedback to make edits - tossed into rotation
Custom Map 15
  • Altered the ladders a little to be more smooth.
  • Edited the entrance in the middle from a door, to a ruined wall.
- Removed Siege of Toulon from rotation
- Re-added Sjotofta into the rotation.

Thanks Kruse for the map updates!



Admin changes:
- Sam is now a full game admin, completing his trial
- Angel is now a new trial admin


Random Changes:
- Added a new rotation message that pops up along with the Discord and Steam for the website for reminders on unbans / ban requests and leaderboard positions.

April 9th 2018:
Script changes:
- Admins can now select the general unit.

Custom chat:
Use the "O" key to access this new chat.
Colour was changed from the previous red to a more readable Yellow.
There is spam protection in this chat.
Writing /help in this chat will display a list of commands (all starting with the prefix /)
       -  /players - Shows list of players
       - /admins - Shows online admins and what team they're in
       - /bps - Displays buildpoints available for each team
       - /skins - Displays available skins to you (None currently for players)

What's to come:
Maps 
Our mappers are working quite busily to update current rotation maps (especially the new one). Rotation may change this weekend, who knows :)

Scripts 
Skins will be available through leaderboard positions, this will be reset on the regular quite soon and allow for a more competitive atmosphere. If you did not know, we have a leaderboard located here

Thank you very much to Caesim for the continued great work on the scripts he's provided for us, without him we wouldn't have much of the scripts we currently have on the server.

totally didn't forget to use this for months
September 1st 2018:
The server has been restarted with these changes! Be sure to leave feedback in the #feedback channel on our Discord if you have any! Credit to Aztir and Loifas for their changes to map 1 & 15, and to Zebaad for the church map. Map 7 & 9 were edited by myself, so #BlameGretel4BadMaps.

Custom map 1 - Bastion Gate:
  • Flattened terrain inside fort so it isn't as wonky.
  • Re-made defenders spawn.
  • Changed bunker to be more appealing and more defenceable.
  • Added a secondary wall inside the fort.


Custom map 7 - Mansion:
  • Removed attacking cannons, added a destroyed cannon where main one used to be.
  • Moved molotovs around, removed attacker molotovs to prevent through floor kills.
  • Widened Front balcony to make melee easier and navigation better.
  • Removed circular tower outside main gate and added a cart and food stall in its place.
  • Basement now has a floor.
  • Added small ladder up to roof so you don't have to jump anymore.
  • Moved 8 defender spawns into the attic.
  • Improved back garden. 
  • Added a new building for attackers and defenders to use near the main building.

Custom map 15 - Tropical Island:
  •  Remade boat so it's easier to navigate.

Custom map 9 - Stone Church:
  •  Church map re-added into rotation, pictured below.
  • Added scaffolding entrance at the back.
  • Removed attacker mortar, moved defender arty.
  • Added visual improvements.

Steptember 6th 2018:
Minisiege updates 06/09/2018
Server restarted with these changes!

Custom map 1 - Bastion Gate:
- Re-added to rotation.
- Added a fallen tree to allow easier access to tunnel for attackers.
- Fixed issue that made a wall impassable when breached (thus breaking the map).
- Added a toilet.

Custom map 9 - Stone Church:
- Split attacker spawns into 2 locations, 15 spawns in each location.
- Added small loggers house for 1 of the attackers spawn on the hill.
- Buried front ladder to attackers have to dig up the area before they can raise the ladder. Delays them so defenders can defend the front.
- Moved all of defender spawns, minus 4, to the top of the church. Other 4 are located behind something at the bottom.
- Re-added attacking mortar as a test to see how things go for now.

Custom map 10 - Papelotte
- New map added to rotation, pictured below.
- Needs testing and balancing i'm sure, but that's what feedback is for!
